Launching 2027
The Ten Step Guide is a comprehensive, experience-led framework designed to support you through the real process of creating a retreat, from early concept to confident delivery.
This is a structured, downloadable online course you can move through at your own pace. It distils decades of retreat design, leadership and operational experience into a clear, practical pathway.
Creating a retreat requires more than inspiration. It involves vision, structure, financial clarity, logistics, positioning and leadership. Often all at once.
The Ten Step Guide exists to help you navigate that complexity with confidence.
It is grounded in lived experience rather than theory, drawing on over two decades of retreat creation across wellness, yoga, cultural and adventure contexts.
How the Ten Step Guide Works
The framework is divided into two complementary online courses, each containing five core modules.
Together, they take you from concept to delivery. You can begin with Course One and progress to Course Two when you are ready, or complete both as a complete retreat creation pathway.
Course One: Foundations & Retreat Design
The first five steps focus on shaping your retreat vision and building strong foundations. You will explore:
• Clarifying your retreat concept and intention
• Designing experiences that feel coherent and well-paced
• Structuring your retreat in a way that supports participant journey
• Choosing locations and venues aligned with your vision
• Developing financially viable pricing and budgeting foundations
This course focuses on thoughtful design, positive impact and practical structure. By the end, you will have a clearly articulated retreat concept grounded in both creativity and realism.
Course Two: The Business of Retreats
The second five steps focus on the practical elements that bring your retreat into the world. You will explore:
• Positioning your retreat clearly and defining your marketing pillars
• Building an aligned and realistic marketing approach
• Legal and operational considerations
• Creating booking systems and guest communication processes
• Preparing your guests for their retreat
What Makes This Different
This is not a templated retreat formula. It is a structured framework built from real-world retreat design and delivery across multiple countries, industries and audience types. The Ten Step Guide is designed for people who want to approach retreat design and delivery thoughtfully, responsibly and with long-term sustainability in mind. It provides clarity without removing your creative voice.
What You Gain from the Ten Step Guide
This course is designed to give you practical structure, grounded thinking and decision-making confidence. You will gain:

A step-by-step structure that helps you move from idea to delivery without feeling overwhelmed.
Financial and Operational Confidence
Tools to price realistically, plan responsibly and build retreats that are viable as well as inspiring.
Strategic Positioning Clarity
A stronger understanding of how to communicate your retreat so it resonates with the right audience.
Professional Standards

After the Ten Step Guide
For some, completing the Guide will be enough to confidently create and run their retreats independently.
For others, it becomes the foundation for deeper refinement. Graduates of the Ten Step Guide may choose to join the Retreat Leaders Retreat — an in-person mentored experience designed to develop your leadership, refine your retreat project and receive structured feedback within a small, supported group.
The Guide provides the structure. The Retreat Leaders Retreat provides the depth.

If you’re considering running a retreat of any kind I would recommend taking Jools and Jean’s course before going any further. Between them there’s a wealth of knowledge and experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
